Send Android Messages from your desktop with Android Messages web client in coming days

A few months back, Google announced replacing SMS with "CHAT", a carrier-based service based on Rich Communication Services (RCS). RCS is the future of SMS and its capabilities extend beyond messaging. RCS offers read receipts, typing notifications, larger image and video file sharing and also works over Wi-Fi and LTE.
CHAT will replace default Android messaging app instead of being a separate app.

With the first step towards supporting CHAT, Google now lets you send and receive messages from your PC, the same way as you do in Google Android Messaging app.
Android web client also supports "Smart Reply" that automatically generates contextual responses which you can select for quick replies.

The "+" button on the left side of the compose button lets you search and send GIF images. Also, if a link is included in your text, you can see the preview of the link in the app itself.

To start using Android for web, you need to go to the Settings menu, click "Messages for web" and scan the QR code on the Android Messages web client and get started to use the messaging service on your PC.
After scanning QR code, it encrypts and caches your contacts and recent conversations in your browser. If you are not using Android for web for 14 days, it automatically signs out and deletes the data.
