Android P gets Adaptive battery and brightness to support Google's Digital Wellbeing

Since the launch of T-Mobile G1, Google's first Android smartphone, we have seen Android become more than just a smartphone operating system powering new categories of computing namely, Android TV's, Android wearables and much more.
With the latest version of Android, Android P, Google aims at taking its first step towards incorporating Artificial Intelligence(AI) at the core of its operating system. With the usage of AI, Android P is going to learn from you i.e it will be understanding your usage pattern and predict your next action, thus saving your time.

Android P will have Adaptive battery and brightness in your device, supporting Google's digital wellbeing.

Adaptive Battery
Majority of Android users have the basic concern of battery drainage. With Android P, google is optimizing battery consumption by understanding applications usage pattern.

It uses machine learning to predict which apps you use frequently and which apps you will be using later in the day. The operating system then spends battery on only those apps which you care most about.

According to the VP of engineering for Android, Dave Burke, "Adaptive battery results in a 30% reduction in CPU wakeups which will provide better standby performance."

Adaptive Brightness
Most of the smartphones automatically adjust brightness based on the current lightening conditions.Yet, we often need to manually adjust the brightness as these smartphones don't take into account our preferences or environmental conditions.

Android P uses machine learning to learn how the users set the brightness slider in different ambiances. It then automatically sets the brightness slider as per the users' preference pattern. This feature will surely control screen brightness in a more efficient way as per our usage habits as often the screen becomes too bright or too dim.

With Android P, Android is now becoming much more Intelligent, simpler and supporting Google's digital well-being policy.
