Google Photos for Android gets new Video Editor

Google Photos, free photo storing and sharing app on Android that gives users unlimited storage of photos and HD videos of up to 16 megapixels and 1080 pixels resolution, is soon going to give its users new video editing capabilities.

Movie editing tool will let users simultaneously play with multiple clips. Users will also have options like moving clips up and down in the timeline, hiding portion of a clip as well as inserting, duplicating or removing a clip. You can even long press a clip and drag to any new location. These features will reduce the time to make adjustments in the clips.

Just like other Google apps, the old dark theme background has been replaced by the white background. Also, the preview screen has been moved from middle to top of the screen resulting in a better layout.
Below it, you can see the stack of your selected clips showing how much portion is being used in the current clip.

A movie created with the new editor will work on older versions of the app too. As of now, this latest update will be available in the Google Photos app version 3.18

Even with some many important updates, there is still room for some other interesting features like adding texts to videos, themes, flipping and rotating clips.
Let us hope Google adds these more functionalities in the next Google Photos update.
