New Google Assistant after I/O 2018 with new Voices and more

July 18, 2018, 11:07 p.m.

Google, at the I/O 2018 event has introduced new features in its virtual help program, Google Assistant. Although a wide range of products and services were discussed at the event and many new announcements were made, here are some of the other pretty cool features Google announced at I/O 2018.

Google Assistant gets 6 new voices
A total of 6 new voices have been added to Google Assistant including singer John Legend's voice which will be available for the users worldwide in the upcoming days. This has been done to provide users a feeling of talking to a person and not to a monotonous machine. This seems to be a step to support natural TTS ( Text to Speech) programs.

Engage in long conversations
As per the ongoing demand to do so, Google Assistant will now be more interactive by understanding the natural back and forth continued conversations without saying "Hey Google" or "Ok Google" for each follow-up question.

Kids friendly
To encourage polite conversations with kids, "Pretty Please" feature will roll out for families later this year. Google Assistant will offer more than 50 kids games, stories, and creative activities for your family fun time. "Family Link" will let your under 13 kids have their own account to interact with Google Assistant under parental control.

Google Assistant is now on Google Maps
Soon, you can use other Google Assistant features while using Google Maps on your phone as both are getting integrated. All you need to do is say "Hey Google" or "Ok Google" without even leaving the Google Maps app. This for sure is a step towards integrating the features of Google Assistant into various other apps. (Also coming up as a separate feature named App Slicing in Android P)

Google Assistant will now make calls for you
Google Assistant is now increasing its personal assistant's skills by placing calls to schedule your appointments, make hotel reservations and much more. Google Assistant will now understand natural languages and also support Text-to-Speech. This new feature called "Google Duplex" is still under development. In the coming days, you will be able to place food delivery orders directly in Google Assistant. A recorded example of this was shown at Google I/O where the google assistant placed an order by calling the store and it was so natural that even the person on the other side was not even able to comprehend whether it was a machine who placed the order.

"We think of it as a conversational assistant, on-going two-way dialogue with Google. It will help things get done in the real world," said Google CEO, "Sundar Pichai" during his keynote.
From all these latest features added in Google Assistant, Google Assistant is now surely becoming much more interactive and adaptive to our preferences and it must be believed that Google will keep doing the same to make our lives easy

The latest version of the app is free to download at our marketplace and can also be installed from Google Play Store using the given-below link.
