WhatsApp Version 2.8.113 for Android brings update to download Deleted Media.

WhatsApp Messenger, used in over 180 countries now allows its Android users to download deleted media such as images, documents, GIFs, voice and video messages even after they are deleted from your device.

Earlier, WhatsApp used to store un-downloaded media on its servers for 30 days and once the user viewed the media, it was deleted from the server. Also, if the user deleted any media from the device, there was no way to retrieve it.

Now, users will be able to download deleted media from WhatsApp servers as these servers will store the media even after you have deleted it. However, to download the media, you need to have the chat within which the deleted media was initially present. If that particular chat is deleted, you will not be able to retrieve the media.

This feature is currently available on WhatsApp Android app version 2.8.113 and above.

Talking from a privacy point of view, these media files on WhatsApp servers will be end-to-end encrypted like your chats as informed by WhatsApp.
